FAQs
Why can't I navigate round the site on some browsers?
The most likely explanation is that your internet browser doesn't support Javascript, or that you have the Javascript option turned off. The Javascript in MARKER should work with any recent version of Internet Explorer (version 5 or later), Netscape Navigator (version 6 or later) or Mozilla Firefox (version 1 or later). Please let us know if you are having problems with any recent internet browser.
Where has the login link gone?
The main reason users need to log in to the MARKER application is to retrieve results that they have stored on the system. So use the "results" link in the top bar if you need to log in.
What do the gene symbols next to the marker maps mean?
If a gene is shown with white text on a dark grey background, that means that the corresponding marker is found in the gene shown. If however the gene has blue text, the marker is near the gene but not in it.
Can I see (or save to my computer) the numerical values plotted in a MARKER map?
Not directly - but all the pairwise computations of |D'| and the other metrics are stored in a file for each dataset. Go to the dataset information page ("About this dataset"), then click on the link to "pairwise LD values": this will load the file on which the MARKER map plots are based, for this dataset of up to 200 markers.
What about the other information plotted next to the triangular map, such as the TDT_chisq values?
Try the other links under "Files available" on the dataset information page.
I've run an error rates calculation. How can I get the numbers used to plot the results graph?
Near the bottom of the page with the results graph on, you should find a button to "View raw data". You can return to your results via the "your results" link above the header bar, and retrieve the data or the graph, for about a week after you ran the simulation.
